Residents Drop-In Session
The first of a proposed series opportunities for residents to speak informally to Town Councillors took place on January 28th and was felt to be a resounding success.
Three Councillors were present. The first resident turned up spot on 11am and the last didn't leave until after 2.30. A total of 21 people called in to express their views or ask questions, a reassuring number of them speaking very positively about the Town Council. At times the conversation grew quite lively, with six or seven residents in the room at the same time, not all of them sharing the same opinions!
Our residents have a wide number of concerns and high on the list were car parking and road works. Amongst the other topics raised were bottle banks, trees, the lack of bus services, plans for the coronation weekend and pavement cleaning.
This is a start. The Council was very encouraged by the response and more of these sessions will follow, though we may choose different times and possibly different days to allow residents and Councillors who cannot make a Saturday to attend.
Our next Drop-In Session will be on Saturday 4th March- please save the date.
