At the recent AGM members elected Chris Stevens as Chairman again.
Basil Welch agreed to continue as Treasurer and Andy Matheson
continues as Programme Secretary.
Of late the club had not performed very well in battles and tripod
competitions. The print sections usually do well but there is
difficulty in getting enough slides to exhibit. It is hoped
that a slide revival could take place. However the club is
pleased to congratulate Patrick Norman on gaining first place in the
junior section of Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s recent photographic
competition; a commendable effort with his “Squirrel”.
The well-attended Annual Dinner was held at the Dennington Queen's
where the prizes were given for the 2007 year’s results. In
the junior section Jack Grey gained most points and won the cup.
Brian Smith took three cups with first places in the Large Print,
Black and White Print and Slides sections. Brian had a good
year with some spectacular and outstanding photography –
particularly his “Motorbike Crash”. Other member’s work was
also of a high standard and throughout the year the judges commended
the club on the quality. Alastair Douglas won The Barton Cup.
New members are always made welcome.
