Treasure Trail at the Castle next week

News early in 2008

mo 31 Dec

BillieNews from the Camera Club, St Michael's now has its own web site and Billie came 20th of 35, a very creditable performance from a young dog and we're hoping to get some video.

fr 28 Dec

No Soup and Pud lunch next Wednesday as it's so near New Year and last month's town council committee reports uploaded.

Merry Christmas

sa 22 Dec

We put NearTheCoast and Fram in to Love Match on our mobile phone and it came back 98%.  Ahhh

fr 21 Dec

Good luck to Trudie and Billie today and we're falling back to Plan B.  The site is temporarily moving back to the old host today so expect things to go wobbly again.

12:15pm  We seem to have moved and the bulletin board is back. Our Town in Sound CD cover

Both St Michael's and the Town Council sold out of their first batch of Our Town in Sound but emergency supplies got through so you can still get one for Christmas.  Hear a taster here.

12:45pm  If you're very, very quick there are three free tickets for this afternoon's Ipswich Regent Cinderella with her off Strictly Come Wotsit.

fr 14 Dec

Inexplicably the new hostBeep the beeping beep beep thing! provides SQL export but not import so there could be a short delay before the bulletin board comes back properly ... well actually it could be at bit longer.

If the board were back you'd be able to read Faery Cake's post saying don't worry, the oaks on the Fen Meadow will not be felled though they do need work, and a reliable source (Charlotte behind the bar) tells us the Street Fayre team were beavering away again last night to ensure tonight will be a headlong pursuit of pleasure ... we'll be there, wave!

th 13 Dec

Expect this web site to be a bit unreliable for a bit because it is moving host.  It is moving host for the same reason that NearTheCoast.com is moving and rather like the road works in Fram it's going to happen again in the new year.

Hopefully the bulletin board is locked during this move.

4:15pm  We're back though there's still some sorting out to do.

5:15pm  It's going to take seven days for the seven day counter to fill up again and the bulletin board's not back yet.

5:30pm  Not that it's important but we've fixed the seven day counter on the left there.  Now if we could only figure out why the 404 re-direct isn't working ...

10:45pm  That's nice, the ftp access on the new host is much more robust.  The bulletin board is back and in the new flavour RC8 but restoring the database can wait till the morning.

tu 11 Dec

The folks organising this Friday's Street Fayre were meeting away like mad last night.  The Street Fayre dudes (and dudettes) hard at itLots happening again this year though the donkey for the nativity is still in doubt.  If you've got a donkey (or a pony who does impressions (Thanyou very much ladees 'n genelmen and now my personal favourite ... Trigger)) who fancies a night out contact The Crown who'll say it's nothing to do with them Christmas Carolsbut they'll put you onto Roy ...

... and the Fram College Girl's Choir are at The Legion tonight.

sa 8 Dec

Andrea Honeywood at Tracy Clifford's birthday parrtyComparatively recently retired community copper Andrea Honeywood was at Tracy Clifford's birthday party last night.  Andrea has found retirement an enjoyably easy adjustment but is surprised that she now misses Fram Friday nights, not because of the adrenaline but because of the social interaction when dealing with youngsters.  Undoubtedly kids do get a bad press.

th 6 Dec

Trudie Beckwith and Billie - pic contributedLocal copper PC Trudie Beckwith has a four year old Beardie/Border Collie cross called Billie.  The Friday morning before Christmas Billie will be competing against 34 other dogs at Olympia (it's a sort of Corn Exchange in a large town near Chelmsford) in The Kennel Club Olympia Novice Agility Stakes.  Hopefully Billie will be one of ten dogs contesting the evening final.  We really do hope so.

we 28 Nov

Eileen Coe, rabbit ears and Tony Martin - pic contributedSurprisingly Tony Martin was recently 70.  Tony was a town councillor Hear about Framforever and his rich tones can be heard on the town trail audio guide and yes that is the Town Clerk getting definitely off centre rabbit ears at his birthday party Sunday in The Station ...

... and yesterday's lost dog is now back home.

su 25 Nov

The Christmas tree is up

The Christmas tree is up and the lights go on next Sunday, the Chairperson's November Chair Chat reveals that the Bridge Street bus shelter has almost had its holes filled in and don't forget that Double Street will be closed from tomorrow.

sa 24 Nov

Putting the tree up last yearTonight a Phoenix Singers concert of Mozart and Tippett in St Michael's and a Cheese and Wine at Fram College to raise funds for their sports tour of South Africa next year.

Volunteers welcome for putting up the Christmas tree tomorrow morning.

th 8 Nov

Bats in Suffolk (won't argue with that) tonight ... and a teensy bit more info about those three break-ins.

we 7 Nov

The Gods will be angry!  It's flying in the face of Nature!!  From January the monthly town council meetings will be held on a THURSDAY!!!

TC Chairman and Vice-Chairman

Saturday's fireworks raised over £3,000 to improve the Pageant Field.  (Next year save money and reduce Eileen's stress levels by buying your tickets before the night:)

The reported burglary in Station Road last night is now three break-ins, and a ring has been found in College Road.

tu 6 Nov

John Larter in the River OreThere can't be many people who will turn out early on a wintry, rainy Sunday morning to stand in the river Ore wearing not quite tall enough wellingtons to do unpaid overtime but the town council's groundsman John Light would.  After twelve years of service he retired Friday.

mo 5 Nov

On Friday evening Chief Inspector Teresa Byford told the monthly town council meeting that though there will be changes there will still be a Police Station in Fram.

Everybody welcome meeting 5pm in The Crown today to try and make the Street Fayre happen next month.

th 1 Nov

Trick or Treaters in Fram last nightWe got in fruit pastilles and butterscotch but weren't lucky enough to be visited by these trick or treaters ... or any t&ts actually, well Stately Terrace is a bit hidden.

tu 30 Oct

To help us deal with a continuous stream of bogus registrations on the bulletin board we've upgrade it to version 3 software and very snazzy it is too.

mo 15 Oct

Tomorrow's planning agenda downloadable and a planning application has been made for 65 houses on Castle Brooks.

They Came To A City

We managed to catch the end of the technical rehearsal for They Came To A City yesterday afternoon.  FADS' as always highly professional production of this JB Priestley play kicks off tomorrow and runs till Saturday; producer/director Liz Lines confirmed there will be a Saturday show despite the rugby!  More pics here.

we 10 Oct

College Road this morningTickets now on sale (they're cheaper in advance) for the Fireworks Spectacular and interesting in College Road this morning.

mo 8 Oct

Beryl WhiteheadAfter 28 years as a town councillor Beryl Whitehead has resigned.  She is a former chairman and organises the last Sunday in the month rights of way walks.

There may be a postal strike on but a Parcelforce van has just been up Stately Terrace and we've had a postal delivery, though just a single piece of junk.

sa 6 Oct

During September there were just seven recorded crimes in Fram and if the Street Fayre does happen this year it'll be the second Friday in Dec.

we 3 Oct

Saturday week a load of old rubbish on the town council Last year's Street Fayrecar park and we've heard just a rumour that Off The Square might be getting into bed (in the nicest possible way) with The Crown to make the Street Fayre happen again this year.

Surprisingly some people still don't know so we need to tell you that the Community Centre Trust is shutting up shop.

sa 22 Sep

A busy weekend with reggae and the calendar launch tonight (but not together) and motocross tomorrow.

Create a huge stirWhen we were at the Carwash last weeked a very nice lady told us how Off The Square are participating in The World's Biggest Coffee Morning next Friday.  Is anybody else doing something locally?

fr 21 Sep

The bulletin board move has put us all behind so lots to say! Karen Bali is looking for descendants, Darren the Fish has got a new email (his previous server was madasafish.com:) andNick Jenkins while we're in the market the updatedCheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds regs are available here, expect to see Nick Jenkins in the East African, local musos Cheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds are the NME's band of the week and rather late (our fault) the planning agenda (well at least you can see what they discussed Tuesday).  That'll do for now.

we 19 Sep

10:15am: We're locking the bulletin board for a bit whilst we do the category move to nearthecoast.com

12:00pm: The new slimline bulletin board is back but bit of a delay for the new one at near the coast, it'll be available later this afternoon.

03:30pm: The Framlingham category of the bulletin board is now at www.nearthecoast.com/phpbb and bits of College Road are closed.

sa 15 Sep

Start of the 2k - pic by Fram Camera ClubThanks to Fram Camera Club there are some more 10k pics, you can pick up a map today for tomorrow's Garage Sale Trail at Patricks Newsagents and we don't know, is tonight's Carwash sold out?

th 6 Sep

The Community Centre Trust has made a statement on their page.

we 5 Sep

More pics on the board - pic by MitH or Tony StockmanWe've got Sunday's 10k results, there's a cracking photo essay about the three legged runners, we've got our  300th registered user on the board who's a Special from Leiston, which is appropriate as there's been more car related unpleasantness.

fr 24 Aug

Lots to say, matt is looking for a motorbike, top GCSE players at Fram College yesterday were Brundish boy James Mee and Thomas Osmanski who got seventeen A stars between them,

GCSE results at Fram College yesterday

June's Stugig (in memory of Stuart Dines) has raised £4,700 for the Kariandusi School Trust and this is magnificent madness, Sunday week Elisa Garvie and Jenny Stockman will be running the Fram Flyers' (presumably the 2k) threeleggedly!

th 23 Aug

It's just like Radio 4 has come to Fram!  Nick Jenkins has released his audio guide to Framlingham and it's exquisitelyNick Jenkins constructed, ultimately professional, feature loads of voices you'll recognise and just plain enjoyable!  Check it out!

Voices you will hear include Chris Austin, Clare Bjornson, John Bridges, Bill Bulstrode, Chairperson, Terry Gilder, Roy Hunt, Tony Martin, Alison Pickup, Gwen Randall, Don Robinson, Mark Robinson, Malcolm Russell, Darren Smith ...

fr 3 Aug

Postcard from DarrenHi FDC, Whale watching in Majorca.  (See, we said it started with an M.)  Weather fantastic.  Hotel great and fish not too bad either.  No sharks though.  See you all Sat week, Darren

we 1 Aug

Early this morning at the castle - pic by Sarah PayneThe shorts seem to have gone and no doubt so have the trek carts (not that we ever had one in the 37th Poplar) but a hundred years on the Scouts are still broadening horizons.  This morning the 1st Framlingham celebrated the centenary of the first scout camp by meeting at the castle at 7am, saying the Scout Promise and signing cards attached to helium balloons which were released hopefully to be returned from far flung places of the world.  Nice one.

fr 20 Jul

Mouth to Mouth at the Kettleburgh ChequersAndrew Stannard temporarily moves The Crab and Winkle from Parham to Hacheston tonight to kick off Hachfest, tickets for the Outlaws In a Tent go on sale this weekend and Midsummer Night's Dream at Needham Lakes tonight.

su 15 Jul

CarwashNotification about the Drill Hall planning appeal and those dancin' fools who brought you The Posh Do will be presenting Carwash in September.

th 5 Jul

Regrettably the Laxfield Samba Band won't be on the hill this Saturday, the docs' practice manager Denise Guy says speedy bloods is going well, half marathon and Floral Fram results; and there's been the first call out for the First Responders.  Steve Lovett (that's the dude below) arrived at the same time as the emergency paramedic but before the ambulance to a male having difficulty breathing, but the patient is fine now.

tu 3 Jul

The A12 has been closed at various locations between Little Glenham and Wickham Market in particular to the B1078 Campsea Ash, due to extensive flooding.  Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.  Thank you.
Sgt Bob Chapman - Police Direct

Steve Lovett and defibrillatorThe First Responders went live yesterday with Steve Lovett taking the afternoon shift.  Steve is holding the defibrillator which he didn't want to open because the software inside would log it as an incident, in fact the device is packed full of computing power which analyses the electrical activity of a patient's heart and decides whether defibrillation is needed.  First Responders also carry an oxygen bottle as well as the expected first aid stuff.  Remember this kit is on loan at the mo so if you want to donate to help buy it ...

Police investigating the collision which caused the death of Jean Frost would like to hear from you if you travelled along the B1116 Fram-Parham road last Wednesday afternoon.

mo 2 Jul

A security alert yesterday at Ipswich Music Day yesterday affected The Outlaws and makes Sgt Bob's observations particularly relevant.  The folk dancers on the hill Saturday morning were part of Arts Fram which is now into its second week ... don't know which one of these three is Maurice though?

Which one's Maurice? - pic by Chairperson
