The Bulletin BoardThe bulletin board is potentially the most powerful part of Fram.com because you can put the stuff on yourself.  A bit like putting up a card in Solar except no one pinches your drawing pin and board users can pin a card underneath commenting on your card.

You visit the bulletin board by clicking on Bulletin Board on theThe phpbb icon left hand side bar or that icon top left saying phpBB (phpBB is the free software used to run the board).  A new window opens listing the board's forums.  A forum contains topics roughly in the same area; so as you might expect The Outlaws is about the Framlingham modern beat combo.  Click on The Outlaws and you will see the topics, one of them is bound to be The Outlaws.  Click on The Outlaws The Outlaws ~ A popular Framlingham beat comboand you will see that Sandman has told the world about their approaching gig at the White Horse.  fatginge asks if the Outlaws have a web site and Sandman replies it’s being built (this was back in February 2006).  Get the idea?  It’s like a conversation?

Now in an ideal world you should be able to jump straight in and ask Sandman if they could use another singer but you have to register first.  You have to register because out in cyberspace there are bots (bits of software) looking for boards so they can post irrelevant messages with links to sites often unsavoury in nature or virus ridden.  So here’s the boring bit: click on Register top right, agree that you won’t do anything naughty and then The registration formfill in the registration form that appears.  You might want to use a nickname but we don't undertake to hide your identity and it helps to fill out the profile fairly fully.  Two things that catch people out are; pressing return does not move you to the next text box, it submits the probably incomplete form; and the confirmation code (99SG2W for example in the pic) is case dependent, ie it matters whether you use capitals or not.  (The confirmation code stops software pretending to be people.)

Click register and then the even more boring bit is waiting for your profile to be activated.  It might take minutes, probably hours and sometimes days. The log in box You might get an email confirming activation but the software is a bit unreliable about this.  Just try logging in to see if you can and when you do tick the "Log me on automatically each visit:" box.  New board users often get in a muddle because they have several windows to the board open, some logged in and others not.

So now you’re registered you can moan at the town council on The TC Noticeboard, the police on Andrea’s Beat, the web site manager on Fram Dot Com, advertise your lawnmower for sale Free Ads, tell the world about your garage sale this weekend What’s On, or just gob off and ...

... learn how to put pics on the board here.
