The counter was last reset on January 1st 2011. Most websites will register 'hits' (or visits) instead of visitors. This means one person could visit a website 10 times a day and simply refresh their browser to clock up multiple hits, thus giving an inaccurate portrayal of the popularity of the website. You will notice refreshing this page will not change the web counter! Framlingham.com is different. We only measure a visitor once - even if they visit Framlingham.com 20 times a day ( as I know most of you do) it will only register the visitor as one unique visitor to the website. Visitors - not visits! Also many websites create a new "hit" for every page you visit as you navigate through the site. Framlingham.com only registers your visit as one count - if you visit 30 pages or just 1, it makes no difference to the hit counter. We think it's far more useful to know how many unique visitors Framlingham.com receives than how many times the website is viewed by the same people. 1000 people visiting once a day would give a hit count of 30,000 per month. So would 500 people visiting twice per day, or 2000 people visiting every other day ... I could go on! Our web counter show unique visits - a very useful tool. Don't be fooled by other web statistics! |
